Does a Wisdom Tooth have to get removed?!
Question: Does a Wisdom Tooth have to get removed?
I just want the pain to stop with out getting my tooth pulled or having to take a narcotic.
and yes my Jaw hurts, there is no swelling though.

Not everyone gets dry socket. The problem with wisdom teeth is that our mouths are not big enough to accomodate them, and they get impacted, which causes pain. If I were you, I'd have it removed, and use OTC pain relievers, like Aleve. It works really well for dental pain and it's not a narcotic.
I would definatly speak to your dentist, just in case it needs to be taken out. However, if it is coming through, that could be what the pain is due to. I'm 19, and 3 of mine are coming through slowly, and boy does it hurt!! But, if it does need to be taken out, ask your dentist about options, such as, pain relievers after the extraction that do not involve pills, so maybe something that you can rub on your gums to relieve the pain? Hope this helps, I'm no dentist, tho xx
If it is impacted the only way to stop the pain is to have it removed. Yes a dry socket does hurt, and if it happens then you just go back to the dentist and take care of it. It is a minor problem that happens to a few people. An impacted tooth will make your jaw hurt all the time and it will effect your hearing and sinus.
the only way to not have them pulled is if the wisdom teeth grow in your mouth properly and there is room for them to grow. also they must be able to be cleaned properly too or they will decay. 3 of my wisdom teeth grew in properly and i didnt have to get them removed. but it sounds to me like urs isnt growing in properly if its hurting.
I think you should have it out since it is causing the pain. Dry socket happens only if you don't take good care of the wound after extraction such as smoking, using strong suction, etc. Don't worry, I will take it out if I were you and ask the dentist how to take care of the wound after extraction.
Try using antibiotics to try and help the swelling.
Well, the only way is for you to get your tooth pulled. There's no other way around it. Sorry.
And, you would probably be on pain pills...I just got my 4 wisdom teeth pulled on Monday and I am on Vicodin. They gave me a choice between Vicodin and Percucet and I had already been on Vicodin for a tooth extraction a year before so I chose Vicodin.
You're going to have to take a narcotic. Simple as that, unless you want pain.......which is what you're trying to avoid.
Guess, you shouldn't have gotten addicted to pain pills huh? Yeah, see how it affects every aspect of your life? I'm not being arrogant or something, but I am just saying...you'd most likely be on pain killers.
