Do Orthodontists tell you ahead of time when you're getting your braces off!
Question: Do Orthodontists tell you ahead of time when you're getting your braces off?
Do they warn you the appointment before you get them off, or do they just go surprise-surprise?
Answers:
When I got my braces the orthodontist said that it's impossible to tell exactly how long it would take to fix my teeth, but gave us a rough guide of 2-3 years, which he said was standard for my sort of situation... That's a big range, and I ended up getting them off after just over 3 years...
They don't want to give a guaranteed time - people just get antsy when the date comes and passes, they're much better off saying that they're going to do this adjustment, then do a check in a month then you should be good to go after that... Or that it looks like there's only 6 months left rather than giving a set date...
I got a "there's one more adjustment after this, then another appointment, so they should be good to come off in the next 3 or 4 months..."

This will be my 2 years since i've had my braces on. The first time that i've heard anything about getting mine off was at my last appointment. When the time is close they will tell you usually how many more visits you will have until you get them off. After that you'll usually have an appointment that's all about the evaluation and process to see where you're at and when exactly you'll get them off. That's all i know. Hope this helps :)
My orthodontist climbed into my window when I was asleep after I had just finished having sex. I was surprised to wake up and see him in between us, but excited I was getting my braces off!
