How long do braces hurt for?!

I got my braces on 5 days ago and here is what I experienced pain wise: A couple hours after I got them on my mouth felt sore, but the next morning the pain was unbearable! But I took advil and ibprofuin and the pain wasn't so bad. The 3rd day it started to get better but I still couldn't eat normally, so make sure you stick to soft food such as mashed patatoes, apple sause, ice cream and other soft food. Then the 4th day the pain was 90% gone but it was still hard to eat. Today (5 days since I got braces) I could eat normally and the pain is gone now! Hope it helps! Good luck!

Just got braces

My ached for about a week. It was pretty bad, I could hardly chew and they were very temperature sensitive. I was told to chew a lot of gum to get used to chewing. Some orthodontists won't tell you this so be sure to ask. If needed, an Advil should help ease the pain. After the week though, they shouldn't bother you at all.

i just got my tops off after 3 years so im pretty happy about that.
Pain will last only 3-4 days, dont chew hard foods and after you get them tightened for your first time, chew gum (I find it helps you get used to the pain ).

Hiya. Could be a few days. Over the days you'll get used to them, and the ache will subside :).
But Once you go for them tightened they will ache again for a few days, then it will stop. etc..
But its deffiantly worth it!!

From memory mine hurt for about 1 to 2 weeks. I couldn't chew! It hurt so much ( I suggest NOT eating sandwiches for your first meal =P as I did ) For the first few weeks try and only eat soft foods like jelly, mashed potato, ice cream, puree, etc. =]

It was about 3 days before the pain and sensitivity started to ease for me
