How much does medical care cost for someone that needs X-rays?!
Question: like my mom slipped on ice last sunday and her back was hurting really bad. It hasn't been getting better and she said her legs are hurting now so maybe it's getting worse. She won't go to the hospital tomorrow or on Wednesday because she can get free medical care on Thursday but I'm totally worried if that's too long to wait. Is it that expensive if she gets like checked for that stuff?

My last x rays were $75-155 each view and they took at least 3 views. An MRI is about $1000--but might not be necessary. I have insurance though, so my part was about $5 per xray.
However, you'll probably have to pay for emergency room or an office visit as well. However, they don't ask for the money up front at the hospital in my experience.
You could try going to a state or county hospital, since they have programs for low-income people without insurance in some areas (if that applies to you).
However, has she tried icing her back and taking something like Advil? If she doesn't think it is serious it might be all she needs.
