How to exercise for free in the winter?!

Question: I'm not joining a "health club" - too much $dough$ for me right now. I have no ski's or super boots or sleds; and don't want to go sledding. Theres 2 feet of snow on the ground. What should I do, I havent exercised in 3 weeks.
thanks

Walk, Walk, Walk and then do more Walking.

I walked two miles a day (you probably can do more) in the winter. I live in the north woods (lots of snow), and preferred to walk in the winter. Sometimes I had to wait until the back roads were plowed. Other times didn't bother waiting.

By the time I got up the drive way and out to the road, off came the gloves, opened upper part of jacket and took scarf off. You really work up a warm. Kept the rest of my clothes and boots on.

Didn't listen to music, because I wanted to hear cars coming. Most pulled over (which they should do), but there are those who don't. Always had drivers wave at me eventhough I didn't know them.

When summer came when I could finally take off the heavy gear, then I had to fight off the bugs. Then friends of ours started saying how they saw theblack bear and the next one also saw the black bear. By the time the third person saw the same black bear at the same spot (where I walked) that did me in. My "luck" isn't what you call lucky. I've seen enough black bear (from the car) and not including the one that strolled thru our property to convince me the heck with this.

Will drive to town and use the YMCA. At least for summer.

I still say you can't beat walking in the winter.

i always like to roll out my pilates mat and utilize the free fitness videos on www.fitnessmagazine.com.

shoveling the snow out of your driveway will give you a good work out too :)

jumping ropes indoor? ice skating?

I work out in my livingroom, I lay out a towel on the floor and do pushups sit ups ect then i lay on my back for a half our and do the air bike for cardio, it looks stupid but it keeps me in shape

on demand workouts dude.
or just do push ups, sit ups, crunches etc.

Some quick ways to stay in shape during the cold months:

+ When you wake up in the morning before you shower, do some situps and pushups. Start small, maybe 10; and then keep upping the number. Then you can shower.

+ If you have time during the day and have a 2 story home, run up and down your stairs a few times. It will raise your heart rate and if you do it different ways, you can work different muscles in your legs.

+ Do you watch TV? When you do, don't sit on the couch; try doing stretches, yoga, jumping jacks, or even more crunches.

+ Got ice? Even if you don't want to go outside, there are some ways to stay in shape in the cold too. Go ice skating for an hour, if you speed skate your leg muscles will be in shape in no time. Shovel your driveway! Work your arm muscles in that 2 feet of snow. ;)

+ Weights are a great thing to keep in the house. I keep mine next to my remote (20 lbs) so that when I watch TV, I can sit down and work out with them. I also have a treadmill near the TV.

+ Call me a looser, but DDR is one of my favorite ways to keep my legs in shape. It's fun, it's pretty easy when you get used to it, and there's a workout mode. Depending on the age, some of the newer video games are a great workout. The Wii always works my arms to the max when I play the workout mode on Wii Sports; couple that with playing DDR and you're off to a good start

watch Rocky 4 and youll see

Or maybe just go outside take a cold walk and then fall and roll around till u cant roll

You can still go outside and walk or run, just dress for it. I do. Also, as someone has said, shoveling is a great workout. If you can, try to invest in some cheap used weights or use stuff around your house for strength training. If you live near a YMCA or YWCA, you can apply for a scholarship where they give you a super-low rate. I do that and I only pay $30 a month.
