Blood Donors?!

Question: Blood Donors?
Can anyone tell me how do I become a blood donor and does it hurt at all?
I don't like needles either, so how do you feel after giving blood?

I became a Blood Donor earlier this year and have just given my second donation before Christmas and it doesn't hurt very much just a little pinch is all you feel.
But the best bit is knowing that you may have saved someones life by giving Blood,
If you are in the UK you can call the national blood donor helpline on 0845 7 711 711 and they will be able to fix you up..well done you deserve a star...

look on line for sessions near you.
You do feel the needle but it isn't to bad and look how others will benefit from your selfless act.

You get given tea and biscuits after, and should feel no ill affects after.

just go to your local red cross place and ask them to give, you have be atleast 17 or 18 i think.. i hate needles and it didnt hurt me that bad, i feel great cause i helped save a life =]

It doesn't really hurt, more of a little pinch. I have never had any problems giving blood, but some people feel a little dizzy. They give you juice and cookies after you donate to help bring up your blood sugar. It may be a little scary your first time, but remember how many people you are helping with your donation.

Just go to your local blood center or wait for a blood drive to be in your neiborhood. Its just a little pinch when they put the needle in. dont hurt much at all. afterward you might feel the same or you could feel a little light headed or sick. but they provide you with cookies and drinks and other snacks..

Being a blood donor I can imagine is an awesome feeling. However, because I have had cancer I cannot donate. It makes me feel bad because I want to give back what I took you know? I am all better now and I didn't have anything that was contagious I am perfectly healthy. No, the needles do not hurt, unless they can't find your veins. It hurts when you have veins that run or aren't easy to spot. It's not as bad as you think it is, and just know that you have saved another human beings life. So really whats a mosquito bite? Lol.

If you don't like needles then you are SOL. You have to be healthy (not sick at the time), weight over 135, and have not been born in certain countries (due to disease). Check the redcross website for further details. It hurts for a split second as the needle goes in, but that's it. You may feel light headed afterwards until your blood regenerates.

You go to the blood bank and they take the blood it hurts a little when they put the needle in but not horrible. I've always felt fine after giving blood, but make sure you eat before you go and take your time standing up until you know how it will affect you. There are rules you can't be sick, you have to way a certain amount I think its 115lbs. and you have to be 17 or 18 years old.

I give blood all the time. If you can take a friend to talk to, it will make it easier, becuase you won't be thinking about it. It doesn't "hurt" it just feel's awkward. afterall, you are giving a pint of blood. I usually feel fine after giving blood, but I'm pretty healthy. It is different for everyone. Just give it a try. Then you'll know.

I can't give blood because I am under the weight limit, but my mom is a religious blood-donor. She goes to our local hospital. I probably hurts somewhat. She does complain about being a little weak afterwards, but she drinks orange juice or somthing like that and sits for a little while.
One donation can save a few people.

When you give blood you have to give a blood sample first to make sure you have enough iron in your system. If your iron levels are low then they will not draw blood. The injection does not hurt but there can sometimes be a little discomfort as you have to sometimes pump your arm to get the blood running. You feel totaly fine after and just think,it could be a member of your family's life you are saving...contact you local nhs for the donor number.

it don't hurt one little bit. after, to be honest i feel a little proud. when and where should be in your local paper. when you do please come back and tell us all how you feel. if you encourage another to do it you will have done twice the good.

I would rather feel the little prick of the needle instead of being the one in need of the blood.
I think donating blood is great and helps a lot of people and, who knows if one day I will need to receive blood.

I usually feel the same as I did before donating, but in hotter temps, sometimes I feel a little lightheaded.

The cookies and juice are good and sometimes you have the chance to enter contests and win stuff.
