Does anyone know what is wrong with my hubby?!

Question: He's had horrible stomach aches since he was about 5, everytime he eats greasy food or milk products he gets diarrhea, and he's paranoid about traveling because of it. He's tried immodium, kaopectate, and has had numerous tests done. his doctor put him on zoloft, but all that did was make him slightly more comfortable with traveling and he had bad side affects. even when he eats other foods, his stomach starts to hurt. the only thing that i can think of is celiac disease, but i'm not sure. any ideas?

He might have a digestive disease such as Crohns disease. Or he may just be Lactose. I would recommend keeping dairy and greasy foods out of his diet as much as possible.

WEBMD.COM has a symptom checker which you can easily get some suggestions on what it might be.

Good luck!

Saying it's Crohns is jumping to conclusions. It sounds like Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The medication Zelnorm really helped but its company no longer sells it. Have him avoid those foods and eat lots of foods high in fiber (bananas, bran, etc...) Report It

  • my boyfriend had stomach problems that persisted almost a year or two, so bad,it would bring him to his feet, he went to the er 3 times and each time they diagnosed him different, then he went in did the usual xrays, and were about to send him on his way, when all the sudden out of nowhere, they admitted him for four days...he had a ulcer that had swollen the lining of his stomach, closing the passage to his intestine shut, so anything and everything he ate wouldn't make it through to digest, in turn the food/drink would sit till it turn into acids then he would throw up blood and acids...it was really dangerous he should have it looked at soon and be persistent!!! before it gets worse...my boyfriend almost died from it he had to have 2blood transfusions (2units each that's almost more than half of the human supply)(right around there?)best of luck Liza
