Xanax for social anxiety & blushing?!

Question: After developing an anxiety disorder in a very stressful job situation, I changed careers and landed myself in a male dominated office. Since then, the anxiety has actually gotten much worse because although the other job was stressful, I knew it in and out- and in this one I still feel like I'm lost and have no female mentor I can be comfy with. I've begun having the anxiety attacks and really bad blushing/sweating episodes in staff meetings, when talking to coworkers, and even when I just see people in the hall! It's overwhelming, disruptive, and wickedly embarrassing.

I've been doing a lot of reading trying to find SOMETHING that can help me. I've read Xanax is addictive, but when weaned off of it properly can be quite effective. I just need to get through this awkward phase until I'm confident in my job again and I know it'll stop on it's own, but I can't get there because this issue is holding me back. Has anyone had this problem and successfully used meds to fix it?

Using xanax in a situation like this is like using an elephant gun to deal with house ants. - You want to use xanax when you think you are outright going to die....but if you are having that kind of panic attack everyday....thats not the sort of med you should be on.

I would ask your doctor about blood pressure medicines actually - they block adrenaline. And unlike xanax, you can take them everyday, and without having to worry about addiction.
