Question: Hi I am on the highest dose possible of the amitriptyline is anyone taking it and what are they taking it for? Am taking it for pain and for me to relax of a night time in bed????????

I'm on them, have been for a while i take um to relax my muscles as i have fibromyalgia also they stop my head aches,
they can also be prescribed for pain, depression and bed wetting. they cover all sorts,
my mom started them but they gave her dry mouth so she stopped um but i find um great,
i also take um at night i think every one who's on them has to as they make you sleepy,
i hope they help you or better still your pain goes away,
hI i 've been on them for 25yrs they are for relaxing you . Ihave to take mine at night too.
my boyfriend takes it for pain relief, my mother is on it to help her sleep at night

My lass takes it to help her sleep, she has trouble sleeping because of stress and anxiety. Apparently it used to be used as an antidepressant!
Not taking it now but it's used for a variety of symptoms the most common is depression. I was prescribed it because I couldn't rest and needed some sleeping while grieving the death of my child. I took it occasionally when I couldn't sleep for less than a week. It was a very small dose though. Your Dr is just trying to get u to relax and rest. Your body should do the rest. Look if ur concern talk with your DR or even the pharmacist to answer your concerns and get the true facts. There is no shame in taking this medication, just follow the correct dosage and try to rest. Hope u feel better.
