Already went to the doctor?!

Question: I went to the doctor last Sunday because i had a fever of 102.7, my body was stiff and sore, my throat was so raw i couldn't swallow and my head was completely packed tight. When i blow my nose thick green mucus comes out. The doctor just gave me infection medicine and sent me on my way. My nose is still running and my throat it still raw and scratchy and when i sleep at night i can't breath i am so stuffed up. Why wouldn't infection medicine work? What other medicines should i try? I can't take it anymore.

ok, i know it sounds gross, but i assure you this will help!!

take on tablespoon of vinegar and one tablespoon of honey and mix ittogether and drink it.. just hold your nose... do it 3x a day.. i had this awful bug a couple weeks ago (the worst sick i have been) and done this and it was much better after 2 days, where my friends and other ppl i knew had it for a week or more.. my great grandmother swore by this method and did a shot of vinegar and honey everyday and NEVER got sick one day in her life! she lived to be 90 yrs old...i take it everytime i get sick and it always makes me start feeling better by the next day.

go back to the Doc and tell him you need something elas. If you haven't been talking this medicne that long wait a while. It takes time!

When you say infection medicine do you mean antibiotics or cough medicine. It may have been that the medication he put you on ws not specifici for the bug that is causing it.

Gargle your throat with hot water and salt or sophadine (any aoin killer that is efferescent)

you could try boiling hot water then putting it in a bowl with some lavender oil then your head over the bowl and a towel over your hed to catch the steam and breath in the steam? it might clear your nose and head.. its sounds like you have some sort or virus/flu which antibiotics won't help.. i think these usually last about 7-10 days, including the 3 days when you don't have to symptoms but you have to germs...if it lasts longer than this then go back to the doctors! hope you get better soon! xxx

an antibioic is for the bacteria that is casuing the cold, not the symtom. for a stuffy nose take a decongestent, and for the extra mucus take an expectrent. i would take "mucinex D". if you have a cough with it take "mucinec DM"

Amoxicillin is the best you can take but if you are not getting better go back and tell him to give you other med

An antibiotic will kill bacteria and you may have a virus (like a cold or the flu). It is too late to take flu medicine and there is no medicine to cure a cold. I hate the side-effects of decongestants, they feel like speed in a nasty way. I live by this remedy (your immune system will make you better!)
1. a 1/2 or full dose of NyQuil liquid (don't take acetominophen, it's already in the NyQuil)
2. A chilly bedroom at night and warm blankets on top.
3. Humidifier or vaporizer running, a little vicks is a plus. (any kind..cream, ointment, plug in, or the kind you put in the vaporizer)
4. Lots of water, food with hot peppers, and yes...chicken soup (no chicken soup?...eat soup anyway..but not creamed!)
5. No milk or dairy for a few days.

go back to the doc
