Answers:
Yes! There are so many diesases caused by smoking! Even if you dont do it yourself! Say your in the hospital for difficulty breathing and you decide to walk outside and have a smoke!. What good is that going to do you!? Your doctors told you not to, your nurse told you not to, and maybe even your CNA! You KNOW its not going to help your breathing but you do it anyways!. Not only are you hurting yourself but everyone else that is around you!. If they are visiting someone in the hospital it could attract to their clothes and then they carry it into the patients room!. What if they are allergic to it or what if the smell makes them sick!?

Not only is smoking hazardous to your and other peoples heath, but its just plain stupid to come to the hospital complaing about it when you know your going to just go home and do it again!.

ALSO oxygen is used all over a hospital which is highly flamable! Have you ever seen that episode of Greys Anatomy where Dr!. Bailey tells the patient not to smoke "at home" so the patient decides to light one up in the hospital while on oxygen!. Yeah he goes up in flames and has to have reconstructive surgery to his face!.

Its harmful to you, and other people especially those in a critical state!. Smoking is bad for those people and a hospital is where they are taken care of!. If they cant find a safe place at the hospital then where will they find it!?

I am against a smoking ban in hospital grounds because I do not think that it is practical or ethical!.
Although a hospital admission may be the optimal time for many people to choose to stop smoking, there will always be others who are not yet ready to quit!.
I have seen too many patients who abstain from smoking for several weeks while in hospital only to restart when they are discharged for this not to be the case!.
Also, the smoking ban has lead to more patients trying to have a crafty fag in the toilets or in their rooms- not the best idea considering that these patients are, more often than not, on oxygen therapy! KABOOOM
It is important that healthcare professionals take a non judgemental approach to the way their patients live their lives!. It is all well and good to advise and promote smoking cessation!.
However, a hospital is not a prison, and I just don't think it's right to tell somebody off for smoking especially if they are dying anyway!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am most definately for the ban on smoking in hospitals - if patients are in hospital they are there to get better and have doctors and nurses spend alot of their time trying to do this!. Smoking makes your health worse generally, and could be the difference between making a full recovery and having to stay in hospital using more of the governments money, and taking up valuable bed space that could be used for patients that have decided not to pick up the disgusting habit and actually care for their health!. Why should they suffer when they have looked after their health!?!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely!. In a large hospital where I live, smoking is banned anywhere on the hospital campus which spreads for acres and acres!.

I was in the ER a few months ago at a different hospital and the nurse had a bad smell of cigarette smoke and was breathing in my face when she put the IV in!. It was making me feel quite nauseous!. People should not be forced to breathe that quality of air--especially when they are paying for treatment to get their health better!. It is hypocritical!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I support the smoking ban!. Because, you really wouldn't be IN the hospital if you didn't smoke!. Smoking also causes other diseases and such!. And the non-smoking is for other patients safety!. It wouldn't be good for the hospital if patients started to get sick from other people's habits now, would it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

against it of course!. A hospital is where people are treated for health problems and smoking causes health problems for smokers and those around them!. plus they can be dangerous for various reasons other than just health, flammability and what not!. Also, on principle alone, would a hospital allow its residents to drink alcohol or eat poisonous food!? Same thing!Www@Answer-Health@Com

im for the smoking ban completely because 1!. it stinks and 2!.
as you say it damages peoples health and could contribut to getting lung cancer!. i think its stupid people should smoke near hospitals so im FOR the smoking banWww@Answer-Health@Com

What hospital would allow smoking!? Hospitals have flammable gasses, Oxygen for one!. patients with respiratory problems, and it's a health facility, that should not be promoting unhealthy habits!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There arent any Hospitals I no of that you can smoke in,Ya cant even smoke in jail !!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Of course I support a smoking ban in hospitals!. I didn't know there were hospitals that allow it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
