Answers:
They normally give sedatives to people who are claustrophobic, they can also give you tapes (or you can bring your own on request) to listen to as it's very noisy inside the scanner!.

They can also give you the type of glasses that bed ridden patients wear to read books in bed, so that you can see the radiographers operating the machine!.

THEY MOST CERTAINLY CAN GIVE YOU AN ANAESTHETIC, but they will only do it as a last resort because for obvious reasons, no metalic objects are allowed near the magnet, so it adds a lot of complications, but I've seen it done, I used to sell contrast media to MRI units and appart from volunteering to have one done myself, I've witnessed dozens of examinations!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think they hear that quite a lot from people who (think) they are claustrophobic, but in all actuality aren't!. So you need to tell them that you do have a problem and ask if there is anything they can give to help you!. You may find that they'll try out out first, and if you do have a problem, they may give you a mild sedation!. Don't worry, they wont force you in there they are normally very good!. You will be in good hands and they'll take good care of you!. Good luck for your scan!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Fraid not!.!.!.!.they may be able to give you something to relax you!.!.!.when I went, they allowed you to take a CD of your own music, which they played throught the headphones, which made it not so bad!.!.!.!.just try and keep your eyes closed, they may allow you to put something like an eye shade over your eyes so you dont see how close the machine is!.!.!.!.!.sorry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't forget if you have any body piercings to take them out or buy plastic bars for it!.
I had one a couple of years ago on my hip its not too bad, they play music and try to keep you relaxed, try taking an over the counter relaxing remedy i!.e calms or something similar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

when i had one it wasnt that bad at all the gave me the radio to listen to and you couldnt hear much and if you closed your eyes you could easly imagine you werent there :)
And i am pretty sure they cant give you an anaesthetic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
