My son is having bad reactions to his mmr jab any advice??!

Question: My son is having bad reactions to his mmr jab any advice!?!?
apologies in advance this is a bit long !!

my son had his first MMR jab 3 weeks ago ( he is 4!.5 yrs old ) they said he would possibly have a reaction to it within 14 to 21 days after, and has he ever !!! on wednesday he spent all day crying and very clingy , thursday he woke up burning with a temp of 38, and crying, complaining of pain in ears/cheeks and head, also he had swollen face and neck, i phoned dr he said fluids and calpol!. friday was much same, saturday he seemed to be bit better, his pain was gone but still bit puffy faced, but his eyes were mucky with slime, i phoned nhs direct they said he had a mumps reaction from his jab, keep going with fluids and calpol!. i swopped calpol for junior disprol liquid and he seemed brighter last night and slept really well!.
This morning he started throwing up, running another temp and is now pickled in a red rash head to foot, nhs direct said it measels now!. I cannot believe it, and the poor love is really distressed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

aww bless him, i really dont know what else you can do to help, you've sought medical advice and they dont seem overly concerned!. you can either follow their instructions and ride it out or if you're really uncomfortable doing that then you could always call the emergency doctor and demand someone comes and has a look at him as you are very worried!. go with your instincts, at the end of the day you know whats best for him!. i hope he gets better soon, god bless xWww@Answer-Health@Com

if it were my child id be straight down to baby a&e, its better to be safe, at least if they check him and hes ok its peace of mind for u

the measles virus can come on after the MMR jab, but you were right to get him vaccinated - it is the most safe and most effective protection against mumps, measles and rubella!.

the puffy face is a result of the swollen parotid glands (just below the ear and above the jaw)!. make sure he eats soft food because it can be painful to eat!. holding a warm flannel on the swollen glands can reduce the pain and make sure he gets lots of fluids to avoid dehydration!.

Conjunctivitis is a common result of measles and drops can help to treat this!. ensure you dont go near his eyes and then touch your own eyes, as you could contract it!. the rash will last for about 8 days!. there is no cure/all-in-one treatment so you have to wait until the virus is fought off by the immune system!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
