I quit twice - and when I started the second time it was because I was stressed out because of exams!. It's really not as hard to quit as people make it out to be!. Let me explain my philosophy on the matter and why so many people fail!.

When you start smoking, you begin walking up a staircase!. The heavier a smoker you are, the higher up you walk!. To get down from the stairs (to quit smoking), you can't just jump to the bottom (unless you're only a couple of steps up), because you're going to bust your ***!. You have to take one step at a time, back down to the floor!. This means you have to cut back on your cigarette intake, one cigarette at a time!.

Everyone is physiologically different, so you'll have to do this in whatever time frame works best for you - but for me I found that weekly intervals were best!. One week I would smoke 6 cigarettes a day, the next week 5 a day, the next week 4, and so on!. By the time I completely quit smoking (both times)!.!.!. I had no withdrawal symptoms, and no urge to smoke at all!. As a matter of fact, I think cigarettes are disgusting now!.

Hope this works for you!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some would go for nicotine patches to get over the worst withdrawal symptoms, but that too would seem to be hogwash, as a doctor explained to me!. Science has discovered -and proven- lately, that quitting the habit does not produce withdrawal symptoms!.

As I have stopped and started again 4 times already (8 months, 16 months, 3 years and 5 year interruptions) I had a really tough time accepting this!. But how to argue against scientific proof!?

You are eliminating a lot of very nasty toxins, that is a fact, so this should last anything from two weeks to a month, but not much longer!. You could try intensifying your work outs or take up a daily sport routine to spend yourself a little before bed, that should accelerate getting rid of these symptoms and improve the quality of your sleep!.

The best thing of course, is to check with your MD!. It could be that you are missing out on an essential part of your sleep, which would explain some of the symptoms, like having a hard time waking up and headaches!.

Hope this helps put some things into better perspective!. Good luck and God Bless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm with you on this, I gave up 3 years ago and the initial 3 weeks were like hell, everywhere i looked people seemed to be smoking and the cravings were terrible, you have to go through this period of withdrawl and eventually it does get better, please stick with it, find a distraction such as going for a walk or reading a book!.!.!.!.!.after 3 years I still occasionally crave so its a life long battle to stay an ex smoker, don't give in and have just one because before you know it you will be smoking a pack a day again!!

Good luck, and remember to save all the money you would have spent on cigs in a big jar i did this and at the end of the 1st year i had enough cash to splurge on a shopping trip to London!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was a mess after i quit!. I felt like I couldn't go on (sounds dramatic, but true)!. You're not dying though!. Your body is trying to heal itself from all the damage the tobacco did to it!. You're going to feel like this for about a month, but it will get better!. You'll be able to go on from day to day without even thinking about it anymore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used nicotine replacements to help with the withrawals!. Also NO COFFEE and ALCOHAL or you WILL start smoking again!. I drank nothing but milk and water for a couple months since neither taste to great with cigarettes!. I wish the best!. You CAN do this!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I smoked for 16 years!. Quit last year!. Except for the urge and increased appetite, didn't have any other problem!. For your backache and headaches, I'll suggest you to consult a doctor!. It might be a symptom for some other problem!. Why take a chanceWww@Answer-Health@Com

Oh yea, I felt HORRIBLE after I quit!. I caved in thought, but at least all the pain went away =] It's completely normal, especially the always being tired part!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I stopped 3 years ago!.
and dont worry its perfectly normal for that!.
you might want to see a doctor JUST in case!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The withdrawal symptoms are most definitely the worst!. Doctors say that quitting smoking is like a heroin addict kicking heroin! Seriously! You are going to make it! You will feel different aches and pains just as anyone does when they withdraw from anything, our body just does that!. Also, did you quit cold turkey!? Quitting cold turkey can be very harsh on your body, my doctor has told me that himself, and this is when I had to quit because I was pregnant, he wanted me to quit slowly so as not to shock my body and cause any stress in the pregnancy causing harm to the fetus, but I was able to quit successfully that way in a few weeks!. And especially if you were a heavy smoker, I would think that if your doctor advised you, he would have told you to do it slowly!. Also, you are probably tired because nicotine is a stimulant and you probably didn't get great sleep in the time that you did smoke if you were like me, I would get out of bed in the middle of the night because I was craving a cigarette in my sleep! But if you have it in you to keep away from cigs for good!.!.!.you will get through it, after all, it's better than getting old and having to fight for every breath you take, right!? Good luck to you, you can do it!!!!!! By the way, it was easy to start smoking wasn't it!? What a shame!.!.!. : )Www@Answer-Health@Com
