Length of surgery is going to depend on how much of the instrumentation is going to be removed, how much bone has grown in with the fusion, and what the surgeon's plan of care is!. Also, is she having surgery at a teaching hospital!. All of these can add time!. She and her folks should be talking to the surgeon to get a better estimate, but probably around 4 hours, give or take based on the above factors!.

Just because the bone is out, doesn't mean she's back to regular activities!. She'll still have bone fragments in there healing, and what is the surgeon's plan is to revise the instrumentation as opposed to completely removing it!? Again, she should talk to her surgeon about it!. Probably 6-12 mo!. before resuming sports that could be "contact" at times!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
