Serious Nosebleed? How do I stop it?!

Question: Serious Nosebleed!? How do I stop it!?
Lately I've been getting frequent nosebleeds, almost everyday!. They come out of nowhere and I can find no pattern as to what causes it!. I'm on the computer and it starts or I can be lying down and reading a book and I feel it going down my throat!. And the really bad thing is, I can't get it to stop unless I let it 'bleed out'!.

It's very runny and when I press a tissue against my nose it just soaks through it and continues dripping, when I do that lying down it goes down the back of my throat!. the blood always comes out the left nostril!. Is there anyway to stop the bleeding!? Should I be worried about this!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Bundle some tissue and place it under your upper lip, between your gums and inner lip!. theres a big artery that runs along there it will stop the bleeding!. Bring humidity into the environment and add some ice/ ice pack wrapped in a shirt onto your nose, constrict the vessels!.

Try taking some multi vitamins or just iron supplements to thicken your blood!. you may merely be lacking a few vitamins ans its making your blood too thin!. if after taking the pills problem remains the same hit up a doc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

do you have a cold or anything!? i used to get no stop nosebleeds when i had a cold i just let them bleed until they stop put if your worried that you are bleeding to much or for to long then go to a&e and they will put a thing in your nose a pump it full of water to expand and leave it in for a couple of minutes/hours i dont really know but the device works in the same way as a tampon really so if you dont want to go to a&e the just put a tampon up there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try plugging the bleeding nostril with a tampon or tube of rolled paper towel!. That will help it clot more quickly!. An hour or so later gently coat the inside of your nostrils with petroleum jelly using a q-tip!. That will help the scab stay moist!. Your nose probably bleeds everytime the scab cracks or comes off from your nose doing its job!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have air conditioning or a fan going all the time your problem may be too little humidity!. Buy or borrow a humidifier- and keep it filled properly!. After a week if you problem doesn't go away or worsens- you should see a doctor- you may have a ruptured blood vessel in your nose!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

An old Boxers trick is to take a coffee cup, fill it with warm salt water!.Then, using a small spoon snort it into the nostril!. Done regularly, this hardens the capillaries and stops them from bleeding so easilyWww@Answer-Health@Com

The cause of nosebleeds can generally be divided into two categories, local and systemic factors, although it should be remembered that a significant number of nosebleeds occur with no obvious cause!.

Pressure should be firm and be applied for at least 10 minutes while keeping the head in the neutral position and spitting out any blood which flows into the mouth!. There is no benefit to pinching the bridge of the nose or to tilting the head backwards or forwards!. Swallowing excess blood can irritate the stomach and cause vomiting!. Local application of an ice pack to the forehead or back of the neck or sucking an ice cube has seen widespread practice, but has been shown to not have any statistically significant effects on nasal mucosal blood flow!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay, now the bad news!. Nosebleeds can be symptomatic of a bleeding disorder, lukemia, local tumor and other health conditions requiring medical attention!. Genetic factors must be considered, and there are some difficult conditions such as Hemophelia A, B and C!.

Yes, packs and ice can help slow and stop the flow, but it may require a nasal pack applied medically, with deeper reach of pressure!.

Absent, the serious causes, are you a nose picker!? scratching is a great cause for repetetive bleeding!.

In general, get help now, and avoid transfusions later!.

First off, you should definitely see a doctor if you're having frequent nosebleeds!. For now, to help stop the bleeding, tilt your head forward and make sure your head is above your heart (sitting/standing)!. Tipping it back can cause the blood to run down your throat which is really gross and can cause you to vomit if you swallow too much! Pinch your nostrils together for a good 5-10 min as the constant pressure will stop the blood flow!. A great trick is to take either a cotton ball or rolled up tissue and put it inside your upper lip!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
