Question: I'm putting a stop to smoking cigarettes in 6 days, ANY ADVICE!!?
I've been smoking for everyday for a little over a year, now!. I have decided to just quit because I understand the harm I could put my body through!. I really want to quit, and I know this isn't going to be easy!. So, is there any tips that former smokers could lend to me!?

I just quit smoking!. I'm using the patch which helps with the nicotine withdrawals!. The hardest part for me is the act of smoking - it gets me outta the house, quick break from work, etc!.!.!. it's like my 5 minute time-out every hour!. I've had to find other ways to 'time-out' like take a long bathroom break or take a really long time opening a pack of gum!. Oh! Gum helps! Any time you feel the need to smoke, pop in a piece of gum or chew on your pen or get an assorted bag of candies (sugar free if possible) to suck on!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
Tell everyone you know about your plan to quit!. You'll then be more motivated to follow through and stay quit!. Second, seek the support of a stop-smoking group!.!.!.its easier to do this when others are there to support you: American Lung Association has support groups one can join!. Plan several alternative activities that will get you through the times when you really feel the need to light up, such as working out or going for a walk, reading a poem, eating an apple, anything that will distract you from the temporary urge!. I was not able to quit without a nicotine patch!. Even then, it was not easy!. Think only negative thoughts about cigarettes, it will help turn you off!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
My sister kept a journal talking about when she felt like she needed a cigarette!. Figuring out what her pattern was helped her realize why she was smoking, and that she really didn't need to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Carry a toothbrush and whenever you feel the urge to smoke is becoming too powerful just go brush your teeth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
