I was told that a cold room produces a better workout. What's your opinion on this?

indeed a cold room lets you breathe more oxygen. get one of those air circulators and turn it on when on a work out

Yes. The humidity in the air causes me to sweat profusely, which makes us dehydrated quicker. However, too cold of temperatures will make you prone to injury, so you need to have a temperature that is just right for you to work out in.
