Why do my hands and feet swell?!

Question: Why do my hands and feet swell?
About twice a week, either my hands or feet or sometimes both just swell up. My toes and fingers look like sausages. My feet are usually swollen in the evening, night time. As for my hands, I just wake up with them all swollen. They are not painful, just a bit hard to flex. Whats is going on?

Answers:

I would guess either sodium overload, or hypertension. I would get your blood pressure checked and keep an eye on your sodium intake. Average individuals should intake no more than 2300 mg per day and there are more strict recommendations for middle aged or elderly adults, as well as for special health conditions. If you eat McDonald's and swell up the next morning, you will know. Also, call your doctor and see what they think, knowing your medical history. Good Luck!

Do you take any pills or medications? ... Anyway, it could be either a consequence of a medication 'causing a high blood pressure in the nerves of hands and feet.. which are the extremeties of the body.. or it could be due to tiredness or fatigue .. you've gotta watch out your diet and eat less salt and food that might increase the blood pressure..
