That is EXACTLY what happens to me. It calmed down a lot though, because of ME. It is all in your mind, you can control your panic attack completely....because they still creep up on me. And it is the feeling that I cannot breathe, and I work myself up to where I need to leave where I am, go outside...i get light headed, shake, my muscles hurt...EVERYTHING..and it is our MINDS that do this to us. I am a hypochondriac and my worst fear ever is dying. I ended up in the ER 3 times because of these panic attacks last year. But when I got there, each time, they told me everything was fine. They hooked me up to monitors, and my breathing and circulation was perfect. So that made me want to get a hold of my life, and not have to go through things like that if I didn't have to. I lost 12.5 pounds in three months in that time period, because I was so scared and stressed. Now, when I start feeling like I 'can't breathe' I tell myself that i've done this MANY times..and I can breathe, I can. Then I take a deep breath in, through my mouth, hold it for a couple seconds, then breathe out. I do that so I don't get light headed and start hypervenalating...over and over say "you're fine, you're okay" and that honestly talks yourself out of it...because it is all in your head, you are controlling your own body. If you can talk, you can breathe! That also lets me know that I am being paranoid. Or, when you feel like you can't breathe, hop into a warm shower as you talk yourself down! Hopefully this helps you out, because NO ONE could help me or convince me I was okay...except myself. Please take my advice, the first step is realizing you CAN breathe just fine.
