Do people develope eating disorders?!

Question: Do people develope eating disorders?
I don't know much about them, only that they are really sad and terrible. I read that anorexia and bulimia are a disease and that its something you are born with. So lets say if a girl stopped eating or started throwing up wouldn't that mean she had developed an eating disorder? Its kinda confusing im just trying to understand it better...

It's more the psychological side that's a factor, and not the symptoms. For instance, someone in a good frame of mind wouldn't start starving themselves or throwing up, there has to be some other underlying issue such as severe anxiety, really low self confidence etc.. You aren't necessarily born with them, but there are genetic factors that can make you predisposed to them, such as a history of eating disorders in the family, and other mental disorders. Hope that helped a bit!

had anorexia and bulimia for four years

no one knows the cause or if anyone is born that way or if its developed there are some studies out now trying to see its genetic. i would say its more likely that someone develops them not that they are born with them or that they have to do with genetics, i have and eating disorder but NO ONE in my family has ever had one., at least not a documented one, or one that was treated so as far as everyone knows no one has had one. that right there makes me lean more towards the fact that they are developed. but there is no proof yet on the hows, whys, or who's on eating disorders there are however many tests and studies being conducted

you can develop eating disorders or you can be born with them, some studies say that they are genetic. If a girl stopped eating or started throwing up could mean they have an eating disorder but it is usually the reasons behind her stopping eating or throwing up wich would determine weather or not she would have an eating disorder.

It isn't PROVEN that people are born with eating disorders, but it is kind of true. (they've done tests that aren't conclusive)
I mean, I developed Anorexia by reading Pro-Ana websites and looking at tips to help loose weight. You can develop it, trust me.

My eating disorder limits my life so much.
