no its control mode-a/c mode-simv mode...then cpap
control mode is the vent doing everything for the patient because the patients respiratory drive is depressed due to drugs/anesthesia/chest trauma. a/c mode is assist control mode. The vent is doing all the work regardless of what a patient can do while the simv mode is letting the patient do the work (breathing). The vents also help but it lets the patient do the work so you can see how much vt,rr the patient can do and if the patient is doing well you can put them on cpap. Simv is a weaning mode for patient that can be off vents.
