I have an extreme fear of needles?!
Question: I have an extreme fear of needles?
Every time I go to get a shot, I start crying uncontrollably and have small panic attacks. I will start shaking and feel rather light headed. The weird part is, I have absolutely NO problem at all if I am the one handling the needle, but as soon as another person is the one doing whatever procedure it is that needs to be done, I start freaking out.
I am interested in getting a few piercings, but, it would be risky for me to do it myself. Is there any way for me to help myself get over this fear?
Someone suggested that I try poking myself with needles here and there, but I am perfectly fine with it. It is Only when other people do it that I start freaking out. Any suggestions?

I have found that if you don't watch and try to concentrate on something else while they are doing it, it doesn't seem bad at all. I think the watching-them part is what can make some people fearful.
Why do you need piercings? If you have this problem, why don't you just delay having this done.
This is a great resource for panic and anxiety related issues, and I hope it helps
