Your lucky if you can get by on 7 a day! When I smoke I chain smoke! The best thing that helped me was a book called "The No Nag, No Guilt Way to Quitting Smoking". You can get it used for like $4.00 on Barnes and Nobles, and it was like a Bible to me. I read it and re-read it. I would sit in the bathtub reading it. Another thing that helped was getting those Carlton Cigarettes because when you really quit, the nicotine levels are very low in your body, and you don't crave nicotine. Sunflower seeds help, as does doing something with your hands, like puzzles or knitting, and of course keeping busy. Another thing if you can cut back to 6 smokes for a week and the 5 smokes for a week, and so forth, you'll realize HEY I CAN DO THIS, you will get confidence. I don't know what times you smoke, but by putting it off to later in the day helps too. I when I smoked would have one first thing in the morning, and then when I was quitting........I put it off until 10:00 a.m. for a week and then until 11:00, for a week, and so forth. The book has all kinds of helpful information.
I smoked for 20 years, and tried quitting at least 20 times before I was successful. Practice makes perfect. You can do it, if you really want. I don't think I wanted to bad enough. Once you make up your mind FOR SURE, it is easier. O' and STAY AWAY from smokers!
Rome wasn't built in a day so I understand its had to quit smoking though am not a smoker. I will say try reducing it step by step. Maybe from tomorrow start smoking six instead of seven and them maybe after two weeks reduce to five. Try to reduce it every two weeks and you can quit before you know it. Let Determination be the key. Make a chart ok.
I was fortunate. A year ago I caught a very severe sore throat, if I had one cigarette then my throat would be in pain for about an hour afterward. I had 2 cigarettes and it wasn't worth the pain. I purposely did not go to the doctor, I wanted to finally quit smoking, not be cured quickly. So I used Chloroseptic Throat Spray, drank lots of Chamomile Tea with honey. Throat was all healed in 10 to 14 days. It's now been 1 year since I touched a cigarette. ....It's very important that, when you decide to quit, you set your mind that you will never never give in to the urge again. There's no such thing as having an occasional puff. You have to kill the urge completely by always saying no. As time passes, eventually your subconscious gives up, finding it's useless to bother you anymore. You take things one day at a time. Each day you just have to make it until bedtime. You will dream about having a cigarette, each time you'll wake up and be happy it was just a dream, that you have not given in. Eventually the urge goes away completely and the dreams stop too.
