Is it OK to visit someone with MRSA?!

Question:

Is it OK to visit someone with MRSA?

If you are visiting someone with suspected MRSA in their foot, how much of a risk is it going near them? my moms her carer and shes worried about the risks to herself, as she hasn't been supplied anything to protect herself against it. What should she do?

Answers:

I am a nursing assistant and work around people with MRSA on a daily basis. Your Mom should wear gloves whenever she is in contact with this person, this includes changing bedsheets, doing their laundry, etc. And of course she should wash her hands when she removes the gloves. if she does this she'll be fine.
