Is 'Severe narrowing of the neural foramen'...?!
Question: A cause for surgery? My MRI says that it causes moderate/severe impingement of the L5 nerve root on the left side and moderate impingement of the S1 nerve root. My little toe and parts of my calf are completely numb on the left side. I have tons of pain on the right side and LOTS of pain and some numbness in the groin. I was told that since my spinal canal wasn't narrowed that it wasn't serious. Then I read in a medical journal that neural foraminal narrowing w/impingment is somewhat of a medical emergency to prevent permenant nerve damage. Thought?

the nerve impingement is causing your pain/numbness.
it physical therapist cannot relieve with traction you will need to see a neurosurgeon.
quite a bit of damage has been done already for your symptoms to be so severe.
