I was never in any pain after my surgery, I didn't even need the painkillers they prescribed me!

You really need to make sure that you are ready for the after care. You should not be doing any really heavy lifting at all, or putting your arms way over your head as it could affect the incisions and stitches.

This site was really helpful to me, check it out!

I have had similar surgery. It hurts but it passes like anything else. It is very uncomfortable for about 2-3 days and then you are sore for about a week. But if you live in discomfort and pain because your boobs are too big, it may be worth it.

Hi, I had mine done in 1992 in NC. I had a total of 5 lbs removed, 2-1/2 lbs from each breast. It was a 6 hour operation with two surgeons. there are good and bad things about this operation. Depends on your size, if you are medium I would not do it, if you are too large for your frame and have back pain or suffer from neck, shoulder or back pain, get it done! My insurance company paid for mine in full because of the 5 pound limit. I was a DD, and small frame, around a 120 pounds, I was out of proportion and terrible neck pain from the weight. the doctor described it as a bag of sugar (5 pounds) strapped around your neck and carry it everywhere you go, and truly that is what it felt like to me! It hurts! I won't lie, but if I had to do it over again, yes i would. I had abdominalplasty too, three or four years after the breast reduction. Oh, after the operation it was a 3 day hospital stay and I lost 17 pounds from when I went in and when I left. I loved my new body, but there is a lot of scaring, it is an anchor cut, and make sure they leave the aeola attached! during the operation to keep feeling and sensation there, if it is completely severed it may not come back, sadly. They reduced mine too from 10 cm to 5 cm, which I was happy with. I was unhappy with two doctors with two different styles, don't look alike! opps. but no big deal, looks good in clothes! Took about three months to feel fully healed. email me if you want to talk further about it. I live in SC now. Good luck, if insurance isn't paying for it, it is about 12,000 dollars to have it done now. I went to work 5 days later, but it was too soon, i ripped my incision, I recommend at least a couple of weeks, and you need help at home, hard to lift your arms and nothing heavy at all for awhile. God Bless! Tash
