Is it "safe/healthy" for you to drool in your sleep?!

Question: I often drool in my sleep and I know that your saliva helps your food digest, so it starts up the stomache acids. Is that harmless or harmful and why?

My answer: Salivary glands produce saliva during sleep, usually during dreaming. The body relaxes, i.e. the mouth relaxes and opens up (the mouth also opens up to aquire more oxygen during the night) thus it just doesn't get swallowed like it should and instead leaks out. It shows that you sleep really well.

I did do some research and here is a website that I found:

Drooling is neither unsafe nor unhealthy. Don't worry about it.

:)

My response is not extremely well informed, it is merely my opinion that since EVERYONE drools in there sleep now and then, it is not only normal but safe unless you sleep on your back and are choking as a result, in which case a visit to a doctor is in order.

Harmless. If it's bothering you, try sleeping in a different position.
