I can't really understand from the way you're explaining it, but it may just be infected because people don't normally take much time to clean their belly buttons. Does it hurt? Anyway, the only thing I can think of is to try neosporin, and make sure you keep it clean. It should heal like any other part of the body.

i think you should check out with a doctor

Are you perhaps talking about a piercing?? You should clean those with salt water, and DO NOT touch them while they are healing!!
If it's infected, and it's not pierced, here's what you should do: make a glass of warm salt water and use it to clean your cut. Don't touch it and don't play with it, just let it heal. If it still hurts in a couple days or so, go see a doctor.

boil it out with peroxide 3 times daily and then after each time you boil it out then get a q tip to dry it out and paint the whole area with betadine or iodine. If it isnt feeling better within the week or starts getting red streaks around it then go to the doctor and get put some antibiotics.
