You should go to an Orthopedist to examine and recommend a course of treatment.

I've had 2 Rotator tears (which eventually needed surgery). But, most GOOD doctors will recommend a course of Physical Therapy to increase your strength, range of motion and decrease pain.

You will then need to continue to do these exercises at home. A good NSAID (motrin/tylenol) is really essential to bring down some of the inflammation.

You may also want to place ice in the area.

Strains do not require surgery, complete tears often do.

one of the capitals had the same problem it was so bad that he had to get surgery i would see a doctor

Non steroidal drugs and a good physiotherapist will help. Some do however need surgery
