Can tonsilitis only affect one side of the throat?!
Question: The right side of my throat is very visibly swollen when I look in the mirror, and when I feel under my jaw, the gland (lymph node?) there is swollen and as hard as a pebble... but the left side of my throat is normal. When I swallow, it's really painful at the swollen spot... but it's not a normal sore throat kind of feeling.
I've also been running a fever of about 101 Farenheit for about 36 hours now, with associated body aches and pains.
Does this sound like tonsilitis? I've never had it befre... that I'm aware of, anyway...

Tonsilitis does really make you violently ill baby,But you have to get to a doc and get this checked out.I know what your going through,my little guy goes through this,but of course you already know that.Could be badly infected,you have to get some antobiotics! hope you get better soon,I'm a great nurse you know;)I have a great bedside manner...xxx
It sure can because they are individual glands. Unilateral swelling can be a sign of a more serious infection- a paratonsillar abscess. You might want to go see your doctor.
