Osteopaths?!
Question: I've got a back 'with a twinge'! Was thinking about going to an osteopath - but then a friend said that they are 'dangerous' and you should only use physios, as their trade is regulated?
any opinions??

if i was you i would seek advice at your doc first as they might be a problem which is causing the twinge
get all the exams to the side and if everything is okay i would go to a Chiropractor they are specialised in the back and I'm sure that can help also reflexology is good for back pain
i have arthritis in my spine and hip and swear by them
You first need to get your doctor to diagnose the problem, it could be anything from a muscle spasm to something more sinister.
I would never recommend going to someone who "cracks" your back, as it only releases the gas in the facet joints (similar to cracking your knuckles) and is more psychological than curative.
When you know what it is, then if appropriate, go to a remedial sports massage therapist, who is trained to release spasm and knots in the muscles.
