Im paranoid, do i have anything to be worried about here?!

Question: 1 month ago i pretty badly sprained my ankle. I went to the hospital and they said it wasnt broken and no need for an x-ray. Gradually it bruised and that has now gone. It is still swollen though but not much, just making my ankle look fat. Last weekend i played football for a few hours and it was fine but it swelled up a bit. Somone please say its fine, sorry i hate being paranoid.

Swelling in the ankle is a tough thing to get rid of especially if its chronic like yours seems to be. This is because unless you are lying flat with your leg up, gravity will pull the fluid down into your foot and ankle. I would say this though, if you have pain when you push on the bone that sticks out on the outside of the ankle you may want to get an x-ray taken..especially if you are 15 years old or younger (growth plate issues). To get rid of the swelling you need to be elevating the foot as much as possible during the day, put ice on it several times a day for 15 mins and especially after doing any activity ice it.

Dude, you most likely have BONE CANCER! You should go to the ER right away for help! Don't wait, or you could lose the leg!

why dont you go to the doctor and demand they tell you whats going on

I am no doctor but it sounds pretty normal to me. As long as you do not have pain and the swelling doesn't last too long you should be fine. If it starts to hurt a lot or turns colors again, see a doctor.

Just keep doing what you are doing. If it swells up, stop what you are doing and kick back for a while. It will be back to new pretty quick now.

You have nothing to worry about. Your ankle is just bruised. You should, while your relaxing, raise your leg and put ice on it.

We call people back that HAVE had xrays taken in the ER because the radiologist later did discover a break after a second look at the film.
It is no big deal at all.
There are lots of worse things than a ankle fracture.
Go get it checked again.
Do you have a primary physician.
If no insurance, you will need to go to the ER or local free clinic.

u should be get a x ray to be safe

Well, as long as you didn't hurt it while you were playing football, it should be alright. Keep it elevated, perhaps put it on ice, and you should alright. However if the swelling does not go down in 24 hours, you should probably see a doctor.

without an x-ray I don't see how they know it's not broken.
some sprains can take more than a month to heal. give it a couple more weeks.
