I wore my contacts for 3 months without removing them.. am i going blind?!

Question: I slept in them... i did everything in them for 3 months and those are the disposible ones. They never bothered me so I thought It was okay to keep them on until they started bothering me. I use to moisturize them all the time with the solution just to keep them clean and wet... but anyway I wasn't going to take the lenses out until I got a sty on my right eye.. and I had to take them out because my right out was swollen and I couldn't open it to see. I put on my glasses. And my vision was okay for 2 days.. but now things look blurry to me. Like flashing lights... and the tv..... and the words on my lap top. Whats going on..? Am I going blind? Did I mess up my eyes? =[

Hopefully you're not going blind, but it sure sounds like you are. You should visit your optometrist just to be on the safe side. Blurry vision could be the sign of anything as minimal as "dry eyes" or something as drastic as "retinal detachment." Just to be on the safe side, I recommend you visit your eye doctor ASAP.

probably have eyestrain and it will take them awhile to adjust, try using eye drops and by all means get your eyes checked out, you may have an infection

I work for a contact lens company and I am not a doctor but you really should go speak to your eye care provider.

Depending on the type of contact lens you have you really should be following the doctors replacement schedule. Contact lenses are medical devices and if not used properly can lead to serious concequences. You shouldnt have worn them for 3 months straight as I would consider myself pretty knowledgable on the different replacement schedules of other companys contacts and I think there is one lens that has FDA approval for Extended wear for 30 days. I would try and avoid putting the contact back on your eye and go see your dr asap. He can probably give you something to help or can let you know whats wrong.

I know contacts are expensive and it is super easy to want to just leave them in you eye but I do hope you speak with your doctor and ask him to remind you what type of replacement schedule your lenses.

Ouch. I wore the same pair of contacts for a year, but I would take them out. I ended up scratching my right eye. I couldn't wear my contacts for a couple of weeks while it healed. Get to your eye doctor right away. And don't wear your contacts for awhile, to let your eyes breath.

3 month is bad ..usually you should change them every 2 or 3 weeks and at the most 1 month for contact lenses

you are not going blind however if you continue to do it like that, you may get couple of diseases( i forgot the names) or even go blind. from hearing the symptoms, I would go check with the optometrist just in case...

but I do not think its a serious problem....so from now on change them at the most every month

okay? hope this help
