awe you poor thing you will be really sore rest is the only answer and really Rest get the weepie films and all your favourite films to watch and rest rest rest hot baths will ease a bit drink plenty and eat plenty fruit and veg as the pain killers will make you a bit constipated?the pain will ease in a week or so ?if not see your GP again prop yourself up with pillows when in bed or on the sofa putting pillows into an armchair position getting you comfy take care and if you do nothing no lifting or any house work just rest you will heal soon after a week or so short walks with someone to hang on to bless

The fracture will take around 6 weeks to completely heal, you will notice a gradual decrease in pain at rest, but will continue with pain with trunk motions and when coughing, sneezing, laughing for the next 4-5 weeks.

What Dennis said.

He is spot on. I broke mine just before Christmas and Dennis described my experience perfectly.....

about 3 weeks to heal and if they mend improperly youre in for a trip

6 weeks

Breaks start to mend in about 2 weeks but the full healing takes 6 weeks, with strong pain relievers should give you pain relief. the pain should ease off in about a week, but you will find with a sudden movement it comes back, good luck xx""2

I broke a rib in my back three weeks ago, it is very painful, get some pain relief from your doc, you wont be able to sleep if you don`t.
rest as much as you can.
The worst of mine is over.

Hope you are soon better x

I broke my Rib. Takes about 6 weeks to mend. I found it hard laying down sleeping and coughing but will get better as weeks go by. They don't Bandage it up like before just let Nature take it's coarse.

Your pain will last 6 to 8 weeks, did mine last year falling down stairs, you have my sympathy

I broke 3 of mine at the end of the summer holidays and I thought the doctor was talking b***ocks when he said they would take 6 weeks to heal but he was right. I was in agony for two weeks solid but the pain relief the hospital gave me was brilliant but I had to come off it when I started talking to dead people. It does get easier but even now some days I get the odd twinge, for the first three weeks I tried to carry on as normal, take some advice. Don't, rest up if you don't you'll suffer believe me. But I put a positive spin on it I didn't have to pretend I had a headache for a good few weeks. take it easy

6 weeks, as the others said.

A pillow is helpful for hugging if you have to cough. Lots of deep breathing exercises to keep away pneumonia- You really do not want those two together! I'm sure your doc got you straight on pain meds. Vitamins and a healthy diet are about everything else you can do.

Peace.
