When taking a child's temp is it true you add a degree when taken under the !
Question: yes, and you should add vasoline when taking it rectally
Answers: yes, and you should add vasoline when taking it rectally
You definetly do!!
Yes but for the most accurate results, preform it under the tongue.
My pediatrician just tells me to report the child's temperature and how it was taken. Let them decide if there's enough of a variance to matter. What you are looking for is to see is a change one way or another, as in, "Dr. her temp was 101 yesterday under the arm but now it's 103 under the arm". And just be consistant with whatever method you use. The bottom line is that a degree isn't such a big issue unless the child is very young (like under 6mo) or has a compromised immune system.
yes u do because the arm pit not quite as reliable as under the toung or in da backside but sometimes its the only way you can get a young child to take their temp in this case it might do you good to take it 2 or 3 times and see how all three times compare then add a degree to each observation
