Hernia Surgery?!
Question: Can someone please tell me their experience with a hernia and how the surgery went. I have one on my groin which will get operated on in a couple of weeks.

My son had hernia surgery about 5 yr. ago, when he was 16. The biggest thing with that surgery is that you will be quite sore for a few days afterwards. But only for a few. Thing is, take your pain medicine on schedule if not a half hour or so early so the soreness/pain doesnt get ahead of you, if you know what I mean. The surgery prep was no big deal. Just a stick in the arm for an iv and then they will administer a light sedative just before they put you under. I remember my son fighting it and the anesthesiologist just laughing at him for fighting the sedation so hard, she said "I'll fix you" and walked over and shot a little more into his iv and he was out! Good Luck to you and don't be afraid, you'll be fine Within 2 weeks he was relased to normal activities and immediately started football practice.
My own uncle underwent hernia surgery in the groin area too. It went very well.
Funny memory I have of this. When he was done with surgery my sister called him to wish him well. She was young and asked him innocently what part of his body was operated on, then when he said his groin she started laughing uncontrollably. we tease her about it till this day.
I had a inguinal (groin) hernia repair when I was in 3rd grade. As I remember it, I was back at school in a few days. its no big deal. I am now 30 and never had any problem with it. I played football from age 6 to college. never a problem just an ugly scar. Hopefully, by now they can minimize that. Good luck.
