Broken ankle! Real idiot! Don't know what to do! Help!?!

Question: I was playing badminton and as I landed from a jump, I didn't realize my teammate was just behind me...and you can imagine how stupid and unfortunate it was for my foot to get caught in his gigantic shoes and have a BAD landing...

My foot bent almost 90 degrees and my ankle hurt like hell...

At first I could still move around a bit and walk, but now I realize it was a BIG MISTAKE because now it's swollen and starting to darken.

I didn't, and haven't applied ice, don't ask why, it's really stupid. (But I will)

So now I can't walk and ugh...play badminton.

So...what do I do next for my ankle...

(Goodness i sound stupid..)

Get to a foot doctor and have them check it out. This is the best place to go I have found. If you do not know one then go to the ER/

You most likely have a bad sprain, but let them take x-rays.
They will either wrap it or put an aircast on.
Most likely they will not give you crutches so go and buy a pair.

Then rest it, ice it 20 min 2-3 times a day, keep it wrapped and elevated,.

Stay off it as much as possible.

I did not have the money either but it was the best money I ever spent, cause I was in so much pain.

Yes make sure your health is your top priority. I did not and have been suffering with chronic ankle pain and sprains since I was 14. Mostly gone untreated until this last one knocked some sense into me.

Speaking as a professional, you need to go to the emergency room. If it is swelling up really bad, you may have stopped blood flow to your foot.

There isn't much that you can do yourself to help this. Let people that know what they are doing help you. You need to get antibiotics flowing to prevent any infection, as well as get your ankle put back into place.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR: GO TO THE E.R.

ER

Go to the ER now! The longer you wait to have it examined, the longer it will take to heal.

Best wishes!

I did the same on my ankle, too, and it wasn't broke; I tore a couple of tendons/ligaments.
Use ice for an hour or so, elevate, and it needs to be braced to limit the movement.
If you are active, then get it taken care of by seeing your doctor and then doing physical therapy.
Tendons/ligaments actually take longer to heal than a break in the bone.

You might have a broken ankle, and if it is, you'll have to have a cast most likely. Using crutches isn't fun, but it's not as bad as being in a wheelchair. Best wishes for you to return to badmitton, and for a speey recovery!!
