Sporadic puking in a 7 year old - no other symptoms?!

Question: I have a 7 year old that puked all liquid on Tuesday morning (before breakfast), Tuesday afternoon mostly liquid (about 4 hours after he ate) and middle of the night mostly liquid (about 5 hours after dinner) - no fever, no diarrhea, no other symptoms. We were mellow all Wed and Thursday, no problems - he ate and drank normally. Thursday night he puked again chunky - still no symptoms. He has not eaten anything unusual and not really had any candy or sugary foods. He acts normally right before and right after he pukes. He is eating and drinking normally and I am not worried about dehydration. I'm trying to decide if I should let him spend the night at his grandmas tonight like previously arranged - Does any one have any thoughts as to why he is puking sporadically and should I let him go to grandmas????

He needs to be checked for a haital (?spelling) hernia. You can do a symptom check by going to WebMD.com.

Meanwhile, get the baby to a doctor. It is NOT normal.

Strep causes this even without a fever or sore throat. ?????

Sometimes children will vomit out of stress. Is there anything going on that he would be worrying about? Is there anyone at Grandma's who may be a danger to him? A kid at school? Marital problems? My daughter started doing this years ago when my husband and I separated. The doctor checked her out and said nothing was wrong...it was stress related.

I would take him in to make sure there isn't a hernia or blockage...insist on abdominal X-rays...there was a kid about his age that had swallowed small magnets and they were in different parts of his intestines, but stuck together, creating a blockage... even esophagitis can cause vomiting.

I'd keep him home from Grandma's...just to be safe and no one wants to watch a sick kid.

I would take him to a Dr. It is not normal to puke for no reason and I would not let him go to grandma's as long as he iis still vomiting. Something is causing it. It may be stress but it may be someone that lives close to granny is abusing him and the thought of going to granny's is causing him stress. Take him to the doctor to make sure he doesn't have the flu or anything and try talking to him. Ask him if he wants to go to granny's. Let him know he can tell you anything. One never knows, better safe than sorry.

My daughter had what I called urry/urps (wets burps) she would throw up watery bits after eating. She has reflux and takes acid reducing meds (Zantac/Pepcid) You need to see a doctor. Pedialyte and gatorade will help with dehydration as they have electrolytes until you can see a doctor.

take the baby to hospital... asap
