Wisdom Tooth Extraction...laughing gas?!

Question: I'm going in tomorrow to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I will be having nitrous but also have the option of having enteral conscious sedation along with it. It's a pill that you talk and hour before surgery that will cost $180, which my insurance won't cover. Will the laughing gas be sufficient by itself or will I be better off with the additional sedation and the extra expense?

This is going to depend on if they are pulling them out or cutting them out.
If they are pulling them- go for the gas
If they are cutting- go for the pill
Here is what I did:
I stayed awake all day and all night before the dentist. They put the gas on and I was out like a light. Didnt feel a thing.
Make sure you get the antibiotic prescription and pain prescription before you go into the chair. This way you dont have to try to remember when it is all done.

TRUST ME the laughing gas definitely helps!! but when they put you under the anesthesia i promise you dont feel a thing.

i havent had em out but i know a dentist and people who have had them out and apparently it hurts REAL BAD!. if i was you, id go for as much sleepy pills/gas as i could lol. =D =D

i would take the pill.
I went to an oral surgeon because my wisdom teeth werent fully broken when i had them removed and they put me completely under anesthetic. I wouldnt do it any other way. all my friends who had it done awake or mildly sedated have terrible horror stories. i like that i cant remember anything except the aweful dry sockets i got for no reason at all.

oral surgeons for wisdom teeth are really the way to go but since it looks like youre already commited to this awakened state take the pill because nitrous will not be enough!

Whew. Me? I would go with the extra sedation. Im allegic to laffing gas and it makes me violently paranoid. I opted to be put to sleep for my wisdom teeth extraction. It was great....no worries, no anxiety. I wish you best of luck.

I recently had all four removed and I was put completely under. It's a pretty serious procedure and I know I was in a lot of pain afterwards so I would spend the money to make things as easy as possible.

I'd opt for the nitrous. The level of sedation for the former doesn't appear to be as controllable as the latter.
The most important part is that you have a ride and maybe some assistance that first day until you can get home and ready w/ some painkillers. I was conscious for the whole time w/ a local anesthetic for the removal of my 4, and it was hilariously disturbing.
