What happens if you over-bend a bone(i.e. cracking your wrist)?!

Question: My mom, whose dad was a former doctor, said that small "thorns" will grow out of the original bone(when you get old). Is this true? If not, what will really happen?

-Thanks a ton

The thorns you talk of are known as "spurs". However you do not get them from cracking your wrist. The sound itself is not even from you bone but is caused by the partial collapse of a small space inbetween the joint (where fluid is contained), causing a small vacuum to form which results in the noise you hear.
It's speculated that cracking your wrists (or any joint) may cause damage to the joint over the long term, however this has never been medically proven and is pretty much hearsay as things currently stand.

I don't know, but I heard it gives you arthritis.

Then it might be broken.. :D

it does weaken the joints.

ask somebody else

It grows back by growing each piece of the break into the other piece, and leaves something like a welded seam, but it doesn't cause thorns to grow later.

What do I do? I usually scream at the top of my lungs and then seek medical treatment.

When you crack your bones (fingers for example) its usually the gas bubbles popping that makes the sound, so harmless. If you push it to much you injure it. Your body has restrictions. Leave it be don't push it because it can result in a serious way. and later affect you in life with sore joints.

mayb.......just mayb........u will break it!!!!
dun dun dun duuuuuun!!!!!!

jk but seriously u mite break so dont bend it 2 much. tht would hurt reeeeeeally bad!!!!! owie!!!

Idk but I do the same thing!!! I dont do it that often. No one has said anything about it. so I didnt know it was bad. But it might be as bad as cracking your knuckles.
