Taste of metal in my mouth? Only happened since woke up today?!

Question: For the last few days, I have felt exhausted and today have woken up with a really strong taste of metal in my mouth. It won't go away however much I clean my teeth or drink.

Any ideas what has caused it and how I can make it go away?

BTW my partner swears my breath doesn't smell of metal (or anything in fact) and thinks I'm going mad!

The taste of metal can also be associated with bleeding gums. Blood gives a metal taste because of the iron in the blood.

You might be pregnant. A funny metal taste in your mouth is a pregnancy symptom and given that you've felt exhausted the last few days I think pregnancy could be a possibility.

Could you be pregnant? This is sometimes an early symptom of pregnancy!

I had all these symptoms 2 weeks before I found out I was pregnant! Is there any chance you are?

I think *someone* needs to go and buy themselves a pregnancy test!

go to your doctor and have a full examination there is a metal taste sometimes with pregnancy but also it can be something to do with teeth, so if your not pregnant then go to a dentist.

Tasting metal in the mouth can be a sign of a number of different things including oral infection like gingivitis or periodontitis or a tooth infection.

It can also be caused by some medications like certain antibiotics, antidepresants, and some drugs that are used to treat bloodpressure, arthritis and kidney stones. As well as possibly being caused by prenatal vitamins that some women like to take when trying to get pregnant (hence the taste in early pregnancy that one or two other people have mentioned).

You'll need to look at if you're taking any of the above, and if so maybe try talking to your doctor, if not then it might be worth a trip to the dentist even if you don't feel like you have an infection. Some infections in the gums particularly you don't get any pain in the early stages.

Good luck finding the cause!

do you have teeth with metal filling .Filling comes out if you eat any think sticky like toffees, chewing gum and sticky sweets.I lost my teeth and filling three times.very costly sweet.

It is hormonal....
Either you are pregnant, or you are about to have your period...
Or your filling fell out, but I doubt that...

Pregnancy test at the double!
