When to eat something that contains simple sugars - sweets, fruit, etc - it gives your body a quick burst of energy, but because it is simple it is broken down very quickly!.
This causes your blood sugar to suddenly and drastically drop and it is this that makes you crave sweets things - it is your body saying "erm - i wasn't done with that energy source, gimme more"!.
What you need to be doing is eating complex sugars that give you an energy boost and lasts for a long time while your body works to break it down!.!.!. that way your blood sugar falls slowly at a rate that doen't cause your body to panic and crave!.
So, don't eat sugar and sweets - eat things like beans, pulses, wholegrains!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can think of two possible reasons why you crave sugar and sweets!. One reason could be that eating sweets and dessert is a family tradition and having something sweet after dinner could be comforting or it could be a habit!. Eating sugar can actually be a bit addictive!.
Another reason you might be craving sugar could be due to lower serotonin levels!. Serotonin is a brain chemical that makes you feel content and happy!. Many antidepressant medications work by keeping serotonin levels high!. Sugar may increase the absorption of an amino acid called tryptophan, which the body uses to make serotonin!. This means that eating something sweet may make you feel happy and avoiding sweets may make you feel crabby!.
Chromium is a mineral that studies have shown may reduce carbohydrate cravings!. Although having an occasional bowl of ice cream really isn't going to hurt your diet, you don't want ice cream or cookies to become a habit!. When the craving hits, choose fruits and berries instead of high calorie sweets!. Exercise is also a good way to improve mood!. Go for a walk instead of eating a bowl of ice cream!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
