Question: Lateral Release knee surgery, any advice on doing this surgery!?!?!?

My daughter had a lateral release because her knee kept dislocating!. Hers was an open surgery, but I believe its now done through a scope!.
Her surgery was very successful, and it's been about 13 years, and she's had no more problems

Seems like a major operation!.
If you are not sure about it why don't you ask your Orthopedic Surgeon for advice on whether to have it or not!.
You must understand why and whether you really need it to help you!. Could there be any other alternatives!?
