Question: Pregnant w/ carpal tunnel symptoms!?
I'm almost 6 months pregnant and have been getting carpal tunnel symptoms for a few weeks now!. My doctor says its due to hormone changes!. I wake up at least 3X during the night due to pain!. My fingers and wrists tingle/prick and sometimes feel hot!. Does anyone else have symptoms like these!? How can I alleviate the pain!? Any info helps!. Thank You!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, hormones can play a role but pregnancy induced Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused more from the swelling in your wrists!. This puts pressure on the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel in your wrist!.

Here are some things you can do that may help!.


Putting an ice pack on the wrist several times a day to lower the amount of swelling!.

Sleep with your arm on a pillow at night!. This keeps the wrist elevated above the heart to reduce the swelling!.

Have a partner massage, using thumbs, from the inside of your wrist outwards and down!.

Hold your hand above your head and wiggle your fingers!.

Putting a splint on your wrist at night may also help!.

get some night braces to sleep in for your wrists (sporting good store or pharmacy)
chiropractic and massage can help as well!.

I had it really bad when I was pregnant, but as soon as I had my daughter it stopped!. Wear braces at night and it will helpWww@Answer-Health@Com
