Why is it so hard to book a doctor's appointment?!?!

Question: Why is it so hard to book a doctor's appointment!?!!?
I must be going to the wrong surgery but these days it seems nearly impossible to book an appointment - you can't get anything for a few days (what if I'm ill today and need help!?) and they always ask me to phone back another day to get an appointment!. It has become so complicated these days! Why do you also need all types of ID and proof of address etc!?!?

I think I need to find a new doctor!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you live in Aus then its probably because the people who run the medical practices (not necessarily the doctors who also do what they are told) only seem to care about making money and not the real person!.
My local practice which shifted into a brand new suite of rooms recently was bought out by another company who closed it and moved our doctors to another practice a distance away!. Now to see a doctor we line up and wait and if that is hours of waiting - too bad - also too bad if you are really sick - not sure which is worse the waiting in the surgery for hours or the waiting days to get the appointment
Good luck in finding a new doctor - it is seemingly a task which is in the too hard basket these days
I suppose that they have to ask proof of id etc cos some people go to multiple doctors and get multiple prescriptions - in other words it stops some of the junkies from getting hold of stuff and abusing itWww@Answer-Health@Com

Generally most GPs, once you are registered, do not require proof of identity!. One of the reasons that appointments are harder and harder to come by, despite the fact that the majority of practices offer nearly twice the appointment they did 15 years ago, the the demand has increased so much!. There are only a few hundred more GPs in practice than there were 10 years ago, however the populations, particularly in inner cities have increased!. Also 25 years ago the average patient had 3 contacts with the surgery a year!.( 2 for men and 4 for women and children!.) The current average is nearer 10! Though some of these are with the nurse, these still generate work and paperwork for the GP!. I am afraid it is very much the trying to get a quart in to a pint pot situation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Am not at home during the days as i work full time, and i can only finish certain times!. and when i do finish early, they cant give the time that is suitable for me - because they have to follow the surgery's rules and give an allocated time according to their rules!.
now i have to travel all the way from work to the surgery and of course i will be there at certain time!. but they dont understand that and AAArrgghh its so annoying!.!.

Yeah, i think that's a good idea!. I mean if your doctor cares about his/her patients then it should be no problem getting an emergency appointment because you are sick!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
