No politically corect answers!. Anyone with any knowledge of pharmacology knows the real reason Tylenol (acetaminophen) is added to narcotic analgesics such as Vicodin, Percocet, etc!. What is the REAL REASON!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
They add it because without it, it would just be a pure narcotic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This came from a web site for migraines talking about combination of medications!. As you can read, the mixture of the two provide better pain relief than using one or the other by themselves!.

Combination medicines containing narcotic analgesics and acetaminophen are used to relieve pain!. A NARCOTIC ANALGESIC AND ACETAMINOPHEN USED TOGETHER MAY PROVIDE BETTER PAIN RELIEF THAN EITHER MEDICINE USED ALONE!.!. In some cases, relief of pain may come at lower doses of each medicine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, i don't know if it is the real reason or no, but i know if you take tynelnol (or any generic brand of it) with pain medication it helps the pain medication work better----but of course since the pain med already has it in it--i guess that doesn't really make sense!.
But anyway, that is what my Dr told me and i have also read it too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They add it cause it has a synergistic action - in other words the tylenol makes the narcotic work better so you can use less narcotic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some doctors do give straight morphine, but the other Vicoden that are mixed, help with inflammation and swellingWww@Answer-Health@Com
