Are Dr. (doc) Martens supposed to have adequate arch support?!

Question: Are Dr!. (doc) Martens supposed to have adequate arch support!?
I notice that the midfoot on my pair is very flexible, and that most shoes considered to have adequate arch support have a very stiff midfoot!. Yet I also know that docs were originally conceived as therapeutic!. I need to know because of continuing ankle and foot issues!. Any thoughts!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You're right to be puzzled!. :-) There actually was a Dr!. Martens way back when, and in fact he designed his shoe specifically for his flatfoot patients, but my guess is that he designed it for a rigid flatfoot, specifically for those who could not tolerate a raised arch support!. That's why you don't find an arched contour (like you'd normally find in most running shoes)!. Most of us with flat feet have what's known as a flexible flatfoot and can benefit from some arch support!.

I believe you may be talking about running shoe technology when it comes to a stiff midfoot!?

Doc Martens' idea, a benefit which anyone can enjoy, was to create the cushy sole that runs the full length, as a means of compensating for the "spring" you'd find in an arched foot, which in a flat foot is basically missing!. Even if you've got great arches, this effect is a good one, adding to comfort, especially for people who are on their feet a lot!.

If your foot is on the flat side, you might want to consider wearing an over the counter arch support inside your Docs, for additional support!. If you've got custom orthotics, great, because there's no sole/innersole technology to interfere with your particular prescription!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
