What is an Intensivist and how does one go about becoming one?!
Question: What is an Intensivist and how does one go about becoming one!?
Answers:
An intensivist is a physician specialist in critical care medicine (and usually pulmonary medicine!.) It is a sub-specialty of internal medicine!.
They take care of people in the intensive care unit and people with lung diseases!.
To become one in the US, you go to college (4yrs), then medical school (4 yrs), then do a residency in internal medicine (3 yrs), then a fellowship in pulmonary / critical care medicine (3 yrs)!. This is assuming you want to take care of adults!. It is a similar course to take care of sick kids, but you would do a residency in pediatrics instead of internal medicine!.
Hope that helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
