You have to stop and stretch every so often (1-2 hours). There are several exercises you can do while driving. Eating right and drinking plenty of water help also.

Sounds like he is not use to it. Not stopping enough for a stretch and a break. Your poor man is getting cramp. The shifts seem too long. He will be getting very tired too. Very dangerous to himself and other road users. See if he can do a shorter distance or fewer of them.

I used to make a point of stopping every two or three hours for a short brisk walk. Also, if he has not had a recent physical exam, it would be worth checking some things, particularly his potassium level.
you should just get him a magnesium supplement. it helps for muscle cramps and spasms. people who are athletes, stand alot or sit alot must get a magnesium supplement.
